We are now drawing the editing to a close on the music video. I am continuing to look at YouTube for ideas on more interesting effects and edits to add to the video, yet a lot of music vids in the Pop genre don't include much fancy editing techniques, which makes finding effects that fit with the concept and genre difficult. Both myself and Ben are happy with how the video is looking right now.

Inspiration
Taylor Swift - Ours
For the scenes on the sofa and in the garden we took inspiration from Taylor Swift - Ours, which shows a flashback in a similar nature. The footage is sweet and shows how loved up the couple are, which we thought would be a good thing to include and re-enforced the romance between the Ben and Tuesday.
Taylor Swift - Back to December
When the lyrics 'fighting with him' come on, I included a scene of Ben walking away from Tuesday in the woods. For this shot I took inspiration from Taylor Swift - Back to December. In which her love interest is walking around a lone. This signifies their breakup and how things have gone downhill.
Rudimental - feel the love
For the horse scenes we didn't take inspiration from any other videos as it the idea came naturally, but after looking into videos with horses included, Rudimental - feel the love stood out. This was because the editing is fast faced like our video and the horses take up a lot of the video.
Another song that reminded me of how horses can effect the overall look and feel of the video was, Nick Mulvey - Cucurucu . Even though it's set in a remote location and on a beach which is nothing like ours, the shots are stunning and make the video fit together. There is also a clear connection between the two people and two horses, which is like much like the feeling we want to show in our video.
We wanted the overall feel of our video to be almost like its for private viewing, and that it's shown through Tuesdays eyes. The romantic feel needed to be eminent but not take over the fact that it is also showing the breakdown of their relationship. The personal feel we were aiming for was much like that of John Legend - All of Me where himself and his wife were filming their love for each other. As the audience watching the video, you almost feel uncomfortable watching it because of the romantic the video is.
The sadness of their situation is much like that shown in The Script - Breakeven where he sings about the mess he's in after a breakup. This is what we wanted to portray nearer the end of the song, as the first bits are when they are together.
Even though our video is individual in its own right. Bits of it hint at other songs song that have been very successful, whether they are in the Pop genre or not.

Filming Update #8
Today we spent the day filming inside, include the bedroom scene (this was the third time doing it, so we really needed too and wanted to get it perfect this time)
We also filming some more private scenes of Ben and Tuesday. Which include more POV and close ups, which makes the video more personal to Tuesday.

Editing Update
After spending hours everyday on editing the music video myself and Ben have decided that we only really need another day of filming to finish the whole thing, as there's only a few gaps that need filling and if we get extra footage we can also remove some of the worse shots we have now and replace them with the better ones.
For the amount of time spent on editing the video I'm personally glad that it's nearly over, even though we have had a really good and fun time editing it the song is getting quite annoying now, after listening to it everyday, over and over. Although in hindsight picking a different song may have allowed us the stretch the video into new things, and experiment with more ideas yet because of it being by Taylor Swift and having a young audience watching it, we were limited to what we could include.
The editing has and is going really well, because of the genre we picked there isn't any extravagant editing techniques needed, as in a lot of pop music videos (especially Taylor Swift) the only editing techniques used are straight cuts and dissolves, maybe some lens flares. This makes my job of editing the video a lot easier yet getting all the cuts on beat and in the right place has been tough.
Now that we only have a few gaps and have the basic outline of the video we are experimenting with new techniques and seeing how they look against the song, a lot aren't working but we now have slow motion, fast motion, and a rewind and fast-forward included in the video.

First video viewing
For the first showing of our music videos, we had to show one minute of our progress to the rest of the class to receive positive and negative feedback.
The positive feedback was -
- Variation of shots throughout the video
- Met the genre of Pop
- The concept of the video works well and makes sense
- The opening (including intro) and end is good and strong
- Tracking shots of the horses in the field and grass were described as 'amazing'
- The horse shot when the guitar starts fits well with the beat of the song
- Use of colour in the fields works partially well, the white of the horse harmonises with the gold glow from the field.
The negative feedback (bits we need to work on) was -
- Some scenes didn't match the song (this contradicts what others said about the concept working)
- Shaky camera work at the river scene looks like handmade footage
- The song abruptly starts, needs to be faded in or some other sound at the intro
- Camera adjusts and focuses at the wrong time
- More close-ups needed and point of views from Tuesday to make it clear the video is from her perspective
- Shot at the river with Ben and Tuesday is too long
All in all the video received very positive and constructive feedback that enables us to make changes that we otherwise was not have noticed. We will create a short monologue at the beginning of the clip to fade in the music so there is no sudden sound and I will continue to edit the video to have shorter clips so that the audience doesn't get bored. Myself and Ben also need to sort out a new filming schedule as some extra footage is needed to fulfil the need for more point of view shots and make the video more obvious its from Tuesdays angle.
